Mossarat Qadeem is a scholar-activist and the founder and Executive Director of the PAIMAN Alumni Trust in Pakistan, an NGO committed to the social, political, and economic empowerment of marginalized Pakistanis. As an internationally recognized expert on countering violent extremism (CVE) and de-radicalization, Mossarat Qadeem has spoken three times at the UN General Assembly on this topic. Additionally, she is a member of the International Review Panel of Global Community and Resilience Fund (GCERF) and Women Alliance for Security Leadership (WASL). In 2008, Mossarat launched the "Let's Live in Peace" initiative. The program has been crucial to empower mothers of extremists and other women in the community to help prevent radicalization. Qadeem employs her expertise and in-depth knowledge of the Quran to help hundreds of young men escape from Taliban recruitment, including potential suicide bombers to be exploited by the extremists. Qadeem's work has crucially helped thousands of young people & women across the Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to seek peace, prevent and resolve conflict in the area. Qadeem is a political science professor at the University of Peshawar and has a master's in political science and gender studies from the Institute of Social Sciences in the Netherlands. She holds an MPhil in international politics with a concentration on conflict studies from the University of Hull, England. She has also been a fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, USA. Ms. Mossarat is a visiting fellow in the London School of Economics (LSE) Centre for Women, Peace and Security, a research institute dedicated to promoting justice, human rights, and women's participation in conflict-affected situations worldwide.
