Biography

Dalia Fahmy is an accomplished academic who teaches Political Science at Long Island University. Her courses also include US Foreign Policy, Politics of the Middle East, International Relations, and Military and Defense Policy. Outside of the University, Dr. Fahmy also holds positions as a Visiting Scholar at the Center for the Study of Genocide and Human Rights as well as the UNESCO Chair at Rutgers University for 2018. She often appears on media news sources such as CNN, the Huffington Post, al-Jazeera, MSNBC, and others, even being named in 2017 as NPR’s Source of the Week. Dr. Fahmy’s books center on Islamic political movements and their interactions with democracy, entitled The Rise and Fall of The Muslim Brotherhood and the Future of Political Islam, and two co-edited volumes Illiberal Intelligentsia and the Future of Egyptian Democracy, and International Relations in a Changing World.
