Biography

Amal Killawi wears many hats: researcher, counselor, and student, that all revolve around providing mental health services to Muslim communities. With a speciality in marital relationships, mental and sexual health, domestic violence advocacy, and culturally competent services, Killawi has provided incredible mental health services and research for a variety of Muslim non-profits and student organizations. Besides completing her degrees in psychology and social work, Killawi is also a community activist and organizer. Work with the Muslim Students’ Association, the Peaceful Families Project, Muslim Family Services, and the Journal of Muslim Mental Health all inform her passion for providing quality mental health care to disadvantaged or underrepresented communities.
