Children of all faiths served baskets of bread to the guests, symbolizing the future of Córdoba in New York and around the world. The diversity in ethnicity, language, culture and faith celebrated in Cordoba mirrors the diversity that exists in New York City today. The history of Córdoba was an important reminder of how a pluralistic, tolerant society can flourish. It reminded us not only that different religions can live together in peace, it that when they do, humans are capable of enormous things. Córdoba produced two of the most notable scholars, The Jewish Scholar called Maimoinedes and the Muslim Scholar called Averroes or in Arabic, Ibn Rushd.
