2004 in NYC, Daisy Khan (ASMA) and Ayse Turgut, an independent curator felt a need to create public awareness about the beliefs and conviction of Muslims. They identified Muslim Artists who evoke intriguing images of their identity as Americans. The exhibition Continuity and Change: Islamic Tradition in Contemporary Art highlighted Muslim artists in the diaspora and the societal pressures and experiences they face as American Muslims. The exhibit was an excellent demonstration of Muslim Artists contribution to the fabric of America and how a creative and dynamic cultural expression of Islam is emerging.
