Colleen Keyes is an instrumental member of Zaytuna College in Berkeley, California. Though she was raised Catholic, she found that Islam provided a relatability that she had not found in her experiences with Catholicism. Keyes was met with extreme skepticism from her family, but has excelled in her Muslim community for years. With a PhD in Islamic Studies and Christian-Muslim Affairs, she taught for many years before working for college administrations. She currently serves as Dean of Student Affairs at the only Muslim college in the United States, and is passionate about the presence of female academics in Muslim intellectual spheres.
