Amira Quraishi is an instrumental leader in the emerging field of Muslim Chaplaincy in colleges. She has been working with young people for decades, beginning at the Muslim Youth Camp of California, where she served as Head Counselor. There, Quraishi cultivated her “love for a deeply spiritual and intellectual expression of Islam.” The rest of her career has been spent as a professor, chaplain, and student Muslim Association leader. With an MA in Religious Studies as well as an MA in Middle Eastern Studies, Quraishi has taught about Islam at the University of Pennsylvania and Swarthmore College. She currently serves as the Muslim Chaplain at Wellesley College, and has made her most notable achievements growing this campus leadership role. In 2015, she co-founded the Association of Campus Muslim Chaplains to support and engage with Muslim Chaplains working in academic institutions across the country. Quraishi remains a Co-President of the organization, contributing her diverse range of expertise in education, spiritual counseling, and youth work.
