Afghan women are now struggling to define their role in the post war Afghanistan. An essential part of this struggle is to demand that their voices be at the forefront of the debates about their rights, responsibilities, and status. To ensure that US and Taliban will secure Afghan women’s rights during the ongoing peace process, WISE will collaborate with Afghan women and its vast global network of women to prepare a ‘A Declaration of Global Muslim Women’s Rights’ culled from the ‘Know Your Rights’ position paper.

  • Develop culturally sensitive approach to champion women’s rights, promote gender justice and peace. Implement Muslim women’s rights in Islam training aimed at transforming Taliban behaviors and their patriarchal attitudes toward women.
  • Foster a culture of support among Afghan women using online forums. WISE and its Afghan Partner NECDO will using technology mediated coalition building to reenhance their capacity to collaborate with key stakeholders, male scholars, women activists, and Taliban groups.
  • Develop culturally sensitive approach to securing Muslim women’s rights in Islam by designing trainings aimed at transforming Taliban behaviors and their patriarchal attitudes toward women.
