Naish Hasan is a Writer and Social activist. She was born in the Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Hasan made quite the ripple when she demanded that her Islamic marriage contract be officiated by Female Qaazi, Syeda Saiyyadain Hameed. This was the first marriage to be solemnized by a woman Qaazi not only in India, but on a global scale as well. Hasan describes herself as a women's rights activist, with a particular interest about issues related to Muslim women. She has chosen to work and fight for discriminatory practices of Triple Talaq and Halala, polygamy etc, which are very rampant in Muslim society. Hasan is the former president of the Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan and has had executive roles in various other NGOs. She currently holds a PhD in Social Work from Aligarh University.
