K.Thilagawathi is the Vice President at Sri Kandaswmy Temple, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dr. Thilagawathi is also the Vice President at the Malaysia Arulneri Thirukkoottam, Kuala Lumpur and is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Malaysia Hindu Sangam. She has worked a Worked as Lecturer at Indian Studies Department, University Malaya (1973-2000) and she taught Tamil Grammar, Tamil Classical Literature, and Tamil Culture and Civilization. She has given many religious speeches all over Malaysia and has presented research papers on religion for national and international conferences.
Dr. Thilagawathi was born in Kuala Lumpur and was educated at the Vivekananda Primary School (T) and Vivekananda Secondary School. Her upper secondary education was in Senior Methodist Girls’ School and at the Methodist Boys Secondary School. She obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, in 1969 and 1972 respectively. Her Doctor of Philosophy was obtained from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, India in 1982.
