About
Houda Nonoo is a politician and diplomat. She is the first Jewish woman to be appointed ambassador of Bahrain. Moreover, she is the first Jewish ambassador of any Arab country.
Throughout her life she has been involved in various social justice campaigns. She has been fighting against inequalities that women and children face by advocating for family and domestic law. She also worked to improve working conditions in factories and raised awareness of the plight of domestic workers. Ms. Nonoo was one of the founding members of Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society and she was elected to Bahrain’s Shura Council in 2005. Ms. Nonoo was appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States by King of Bahrain, Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa in 2008.
Ms. Nonoo received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting from the City of London University and MBA in Business Administration from the International University of Europe in Watford, UK. She is married and has two sons.
