The recent flooding in Pakistan has forced many out of their homes and into camps across the country. Women and girls face unique challenges amidst the dire conditions of the camps relating to female hygiene, pregnancy and culture shock in being exposed to men outside their families. No doubt that this is a flood of biblical proportion with devastation to men, women, children and life stock. This poll however does a disservice to the efforts of many Muslim women’s effort. Their work is not being showcased and they don’t have a megaphone to publicize their efforts. There is a huge disparity between the perception and reality. Unless media chooses to focus and showcase their effort this kind of polling minimizes their efforts.
