Aminata Lo

Aminata Lo was born on March 11, 1969 in Coci, Senegal to a religious family that was greatly influenced by the Islamic teachings of Sheikh Abdou Khadre Lo and Sokhna Fatimatou Lo. She pursued Quranic Studies from 1974 to 1976 with her uncle Sheikh Mouhamed Lo in Touba. She then pursued her primary and secondary education in both Arabic and French at the Islamic Institute Manar al-Houda in Louga from 1976 to 1982. From 1982 to 1987, she was a student at the School of Normal Arabic, which instructs students in the Arabic language. Aminata taught Arabic in Touba from 1988 to 1990. In 1990, she joined her husband, Sheikh Moustapha Abdourahmane Lo, who was the representative to the World Islamic League in Gabon. The World Islamic League organized conferences on a variety of themes not only in Senegal but also in many other nations in Africa, Europe and North America. She has also attended many international conferences. Since 1996, she has returned to Senegal and continues her activities towards the advancement of Islam.
