Shahnaz Taplin-Chinoy is the Executive Director of Shahnaz Taplin-Chinoy and Associates, a mass media communications firm in the Bay Area, focusing on key social issues. Ms. Taplin-Chinoy was formerly Director of Public Information and Public Affairs at Planned Parenthood Alameda/San Francisco. She has also been a consultant to the ACLU, the Goldman Foundation, and the Gerbode Foundation and has conducted media workshops for NGOs in India, funded by The Ford Foundation and USAID. Her more recent work has focused on Diaspora philanthropy which includes research and a report entitled: “Silicon Valley Indian Americans Care, Commit and Contribute.” She also developed the strategic communications plan for The American India Foundation. She directs the Community Task Force on Homes for Children and is currently working on a book on Women’s Islam.
