The Muslim Women’s Resource Center aims to promote the social inclusion and welfare of Muslim women in the UK.
MWRC’s programs include a library with an expanding range of reference books, magazines and leaflets as well as text on counseling services and other resources. They provide drop-in sessions and appointments with bilingual staff for women who are needs of various services. Counselors use an Islamic approach where appropriate in assisting women. MWRC will provide several levels of advocacy; they will accompany the individual to appointments for a certain service, or continual advocacy by telephone or face to face with service for the individual or family. They provide training courses to benefit the community of Muslim women and organize events such as International Women’s Day. Lastly, MWRC holds befriending services to provide isolated women with a trained befriender to visit them at home or accompany them to activities.
