The Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL) works to improve the educational opportunities of women, children and communities in Afghanistan. In addition to providing training for teachers and grants to community-based organizations, AIL organizes several programs focused specifically on the education of women. The organization has established women’s learning centers in Afghan refugee camps, which grant certificates and build entrepreneurial skills, and in 2003 founded Gawhar Shad University, a women’s post-secondary educational institution with multiple curriculum tracks.
